Catherine house is a leading non-for-profit provider of supported accommodation for homeless women, aged over 21, in south australia. Providing a wide range of services including emergency or transitional accommodation, vocational education and development programs through sagarmatha, outreach program and mental health/drug and alcohol counseling, catherine house responds to the needs of clients and actively aims to minimise the distress of homeless women. Operating since 1988, we now have a team of 50 full, part-time and casual workers and over 50 volunteers. We also provide a range of encourage services to help us better meet the needs of our clients. Catherine House has extensive programs available to women needing accommodation and encourage services. There are three core areas within the organization: All activities are offered in a fun and sound social learning environment and are designed to offer encouragement while extending the participants’ confidence and skills. I was attracted to Catherine House because of its extensive history in making sincere changes in the lives of women affected by homelessness. My career has eternal been about making a difference in the community. Louise has worked in rural and metropolitan areas, and been privileged to labor with many specific populations including Aboriginal communities, fresh arrival refugees, mental health consumers, women’s health and safety, men’s health, homelessness, rehabilitation, youth and aging populations. Her board experience includes as Chair of a midsize NF providing a wide range of community services, and various Board roles in health, community services, environmental risk management, economic development and education sectors. Since its inception in 1988, the Catherine House Incorporated Board has had the huge good luck of being able to seduce lofty caliber members who bring a long range of skills and expertise to their management role. Members face regularly and participate on a optional basis. We donate a range of services to women including: These programs yield both our emergency accommodation services and transitional housing services. All meals are provided and a number of outer specialist agencies offer onside services. The award winning center offers a range of different activities and programs, offered in a fun and safe social learning environment and are designed to donate encouragement while extending the participants’ confidence and skills. Occupied closely with the Emergency Program is a Lassa clinician, who is available to urge any clients currently experiencing drug or alcohol issues. Catherine House offers transitional housing services to clients from our emergency program as a piece of our post crisis services. Referrals to the Moving On program and Outreach come via the Emergency Program as vacancies arise, however referrals to the Supportive Housing properties are open to all specialist homelessness providers. The Outreach program provides support to clients already living in the community. The Recovery Program is committed to active in partnership with client’s families, program partners and other agencies to enhance quality of life and to support their aptitude to maintain community tenure. The Women’s center is a pretty space designed to provide opportunities for women to engage in various courses and programs. Programs focusing on skill development, including educational and job preparation courses. There is a wide range of services available including case management, access to a visiting legal team, access to a drug and alcohol clinician, access to an engagement coach, and access to education programs. Case labor staff will work on housing applications and case plans with every client who stays. There are laundry facilities on site, available at a minimal cost. Do I have to yield my own food and cook for myself? All food is provided and prepared by the housekeeping team. How can I be referred in to the Recovery Program? Referrals to the program can come from a range of statewide referral options, but are usually from a mental health professional, including care coordinators, psychologist ardor social labor or nursing staff.
