Operating since 1988, we now have a team of 50 full, part-time and casual workers and over 50 volunteers. We also provide a range of encourage services to help us better meet the needs of our clients. Catherine House has extensive programs available to women needing accommodation and encourage services. There are three core areas within the organization: All activities are offered in a fun and sound social learning environment and are designed to offer encouragement while extending the participants’ confidence and skills. Our vision is to be nationally and internationally recognized as an exemplar of integrated services that transform the lives of women experiencing homelessness. Traumainformed care and urge We recognize and understand the impact of trauma on a woman’s life and will work with her to find positive ways to aid healing and recovery. Assisting women to make informed choices We help women to prosper skills to become critical, autonomous thinkers within their personal, cultural, social and political environment. Opportunities to achieve a significant life We urge women to identify what is urgent to them in life and how they can labor towards achieving this. Gracious and inclusive of diversity We acknowledge the diversity of women’s culture and values and will seek to also understand how they personally experience culture. We use this accepting to shape our promote to meet the unique needs of all women who use our services. Social responsibility in our local and global community We believe we have a responsibility to hoist awareness around women’s homelessness and to support local and global organizations with missions and values aligned with our own. We will encourage the women we labor with to prosper and use their expert voices in collaboration with us, to raise political and community awareness around women’s issues and the solutions needed. I was attracted to Catherine House because of its extensive history in making sincere changes in the lives of women affected by homelessness. My career has eternal been about making a difference in the community. Louise has worked in rural and metropolitan areas, and been privileged to labor with many specific populations including Aboriginal communities, fresh arrival refugees, mental health consumers, women’s health and safety, men’s health, homelessness, rehabilitation, youth and aging populations. Her board experience includes as Chair of a midsize NF providing a wide range of community services, and various Board roles in health, community services, environmental risk management, economic development and education sectors. Since its inception in 1988, the Catherine House Incorporated Board has had the huge good luck of being able to seduce lofty caliber members who bring a long range of skills and expertise to their management role. Members face regularly and participate on a optional basis. Trust members give generously of their time through their attendance to routine meetings and also through their participation in two critical subcommittees, the Fundraising and Promotion subcommittee and the Finance and Governance subcommittee.
