These children were residing in important residential, family group homes and encourage care. The committee focused on the needs of these children who were not living with their automatic parents. This was achieved by holding public seminars on kid protection related topics where workers were provided with training and opportunities to reflect on their practice. Media coverage was sought to highlight the plight of these needy young children. Gradually the important residential’s closed down. The Children’s Week Association found itself widening its focus to not only be apprehensive about children in protection of the Department but also children within the general community. The Children’s Week Association, an incorporated body since 1988 coordinates a range of activities conducted by these organizations during Children’s Week each year. The aim of these activities is perpetual to bring to public attention the value and the needs of young children. organizations are encouraged to conduct a wide range of activities involving children and adults together. We rejoice the uniqueness and importance of children. Every day during Children’s Week children from various schools bring orchestras, choirs, dancing groups, and debating groups to the mall. This is a favorite activity that draws large participation each year. Kindergartens, Child Protection centers have unfold days where parents are invited to participate in activities with their children. Presently our organization has linkages with services that labor with children with disabilities, children and families from non English speaking background and Aboriginal and Islander people.

As in other States it’s major objective was to heighten community awareness of the needs, interests and achievements of children below the protection of the Department, or alike in other States. These children, who were not living with their spontaneous parents, resided in important residential’s, family group homes or foster concern and the Committee focused on their needs especially through public seminars offering workers training and opportunities to reflect on their practice. Media coverage was sought to highlight the needs of these children but gradually the important residential’s closed down and the Committee began to widen its focus to include all children within the general community. In return an annual grant of 2,00 would be made to each State and Territory Committee, towards the cost of Children’s Week celebrations. As the labor and membership of the Committee grew the need to formalism the organization structure led to the framing of the Constitution and a prosperous application for incorporation under the Religious, Education and the Charitable Institution Act, with a change of name to the Queensland Children’s Week Association Inc. The first moves took place towards the establishment of a National Children’s Week Body. The Queensland Association was involved from the earliest days in the correspondence, discussions and meetings. Adoption of Constitution and Incorporation of the National body below the name of the Children’s Week Council of Australia Inc. with provision for National Conferences and Annual General Meetings at which major decisions would be made, including national themes, national posters designs, and which State or Territory Committees should bear Council officers and receive responsibility for operation of the National Secretariat for a subsequent two year period. During that period the Constitution was examined, necessary changes drafted and adopted and guidelines and procedures refined. The Children’Week Council finally won the court struggle and it has now been trademarked.
