The Society was formed in Adelaide by the late Dorothy Howie in 1981 to promote our heritage and knowledge of Queen Adelaide after whom our city was named. Members of the committee are available to "guest speak" to groups, meetings or functions regardless of size. by the Society in 2007 called "The Story of Adelaide", and is available by contacting the address or telephone number listed above. A booklet was published. Each year on the 13th August, the anniversary of Queen Adelaide's birthday, a special celebration is held. The elected committee of the Society organises fund-raising functions throughout each year and a donation from these activities is given to a chosen children's charity in South Australia in honour of Queen Adelaide. open to all members of the public on payment of an annual subscription.
